Staffing and Safety

Our professional camp staff has many years of experience in adventure education. All of our camp directors and coordinators are Columbus area school teachers and full time AEC staff. Training and staff development are an ongoing priority, and all camp personnel go through extensive training prior to camp. In addition, all camp staff have First Aid & CPR certifications. Our support staff consists of area high school students; many of them are Adventure Camp graduates. Although the Adventure Camp has the illusion of uncertainty, the activities are extremely safe. We are extremely safety conscious in all aspects of our program both on site and at our other base camp locations.

Locations

The Adventure Camp is based at Camp Lazarus, although some camps do travel offsite to locations such as the nearby Alum Creek State Park for activities.  The 260-acre Camp Lazarus is located 8 miles north of I-270 on Route 23, just north of Columbus, at 4422 Columbus Pike Delaware OH 43015.  Our 40 acres support five ropes courses, multiple climbing walls, high elements, the Jungle Nook climbing area for young children, a thirty-five station initiatives course, large shelter areas, a heated lodge, and a field archery range.
