Position: High Ropes/Ground Initiatives Facilitator

(Part-time Seasonal - Spring/Fall)

Description of Responsibilities

Working with groups (8-12 people) of all ages and backgrounds. Maintaining safety and well being of participants on our 5 intensive high ropes challenge courses, and/or facilitating groups through the initiative course, which entail problem solving, cooperation, and trust building activities. A perfect outdoor job for college students and school teachers in the Columbus, Ohio area!

Requirements:

  • Eighteen years old or older, working on, or have received a degree in education, recreation, environmental studies, or any related field.
  • Must be certified through the Adventure Education Center's High Ropes and Low Ground Initiatives training program. (March / August training sessions available).
  • Certification in American Red Cross CPR and First Aid. A great attitude is a must. Enjoy working with people of all ages. Work Schedule: Approximately 10-25 hours/week March-November.
  • Range of Pay: $10.00-15.00 per hour

Position: SuperGames Instructor

(Part Time, Flexible Hours )

Description of Responsibilities

Responsible for the safety and well being of all participants on or around the SuperGames inflatables, games, and equipment. Assist in the set-up, teardown, and minor maintenance of all activities for each program. Instructors should be ready to work and play hard.

Requirements:

  • Eighteen years old or older, working on, or have received a degree in education, recreation, environmental studies, human services or any related field.
  • Certification in American Red Cross CPR and First Aid. Assist in moving, set-up, teardown of heavy equipment and inflatables. A great attitude is a must. Enjoy working with people of all ages.
  • Work Schedule: Flexible hours that may vary. Approximately 10-40 hours/week April- September.
  • Range of Pay: $10.00-15.00 per hour

Position: Adventure Camp Crew Leaders

(Summer Employment)

The Adventure Education Center at Camp Lazarus, just north of Columbus, Ohio, has opportunities for qualified camp staff for the summer of 2009. The Adventure Camp was created 26 years ago by area teachers who designed the camps to offer innovative activities which provide children with individual and group challenges in a non-competitive atmosphere. Adventure Camp also offers campers opportunities to build a strong self image and extend themselves beyond their own perceived limitations. Our camp remains the leader in Central Ohio for Adventure Day Camps and adventure programs.

Description of Responsibilities

Manage a group of 8-12 children with another crew leader. Children range in age from 6-14 years old. Camps are age specific, so children in each crew are close in age. Provide instruction to campers in a variety of activities and games. Provide supervision and support at all activity areas, including set-up, instruction and clean up. Activities may include: ropes courses, initiatives, mountain biking, canoeing, orienteering, swimming, archery, hiking, rock climbing, Super Games and more! Most camps include one overnight per week.

Requirements

  • All staff are required to have current certifications in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer and Standard First Aid
  • All staff are required to be fingerprinted (we will provide this service for staff).
  • We ask staff to commit to a minimum of 3 weeks of camp plus training. Camps Begins (June 24th and ends July 31st).
  • All staff are required to be responsible as well as have FUN!
